The department of CSE organized one day workshop on “Introduction to information security and its importance” on 29/08/2019 to the V semester CSE students. The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Vinay Khande, Associate Consultant and Certified Ethical Hacker, Allstates Pvt Ltd. The workshop mainly focused on how to protect our data online. The different ways how hackers get a hold of our data was demonstrated. Few key concepts about networking and how everything works together were explained. A concept called pepper and salting along with hashing which is a technique used to protect and store data was demonstrated. The first half of the session was about VPN’s and how they were presently the best way to prevent our data from being leaked and maintaining privacy. He also mentioned how doing simple things like restarting our phones daily was a good way to remove any stored cache, or turning off auto downloads etc. He also spoke about importance of CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) exam.
