The industrial visit to Wipro was organised on 10th April, 2019 for 6th semester students.
Mr. Binoy K who is a part of Wipro hiring and recruitment team gave an introductory session. He laid emphasis on the fact that academia teaches the basis to survive in the ever growing IT industry. This was followed by two videos showing the work environment and domain of work in Wipro.
The next speaker was Mr. Mohan Kumar who themed his session as ‘The experience of a new beginning’. He gave insights about Wipro, its IT businesses, consumer care and lighting, and infrastructure engineering. He also gave a brief history about Wipro’s establishment and its initial stages of growth till this days ranking of being among the top 4 IT company.
He also informed about the code of conduct at Wipro which keeps the employees ever encouraged. These were being passionate about their work, respect, becoming global and responsible and unyielding integrity. Some of the forces driving change are globalisation, economic crisis, circular economy, resilient dynamism, evolving business modes, explosive technological changes and laws and regulatory norms. He discussed about value creation, digitalisation, digital eras, challenges faced and how a new way of thinking can help combat some of the problems, innovations at Wipro, entrepreneur, enterprise, future applications, technological lines and current trending technology. The session was followed by quiz where multiple questions regarding technology was put forth for the students to answer.
The next speaker was Ms. Suma who is a part of the quality assurance team. She gave valuable points about Project Management and agile technology. She defined project and the steps taken during project management such as initialising, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling and closing. She also spoke about the project management life cycle and what does managing a project involve. She also threw light on program management and project management office and project scope.
Post lunch session focussed on Wipro and its technologies with talks given by The CEO, CTO, CSO, Senior VP and Corporate HR. We were also shown videos that describe the lives of people working in Wipro and how this great firm has transformed the lives of these people into a wonderful journey of success.
Overall the take away from this industrial visit was immense and this has truly been a wonderful day spent at an amazing company that nurtures young and talented minds.
